Koh Chang island attractions

On the Mainland
Wat Buppharam s located 2 kilometer went of the town at the end of the canal. Build in 1652 it dates back to the Ayutthaya period. This temple is noted for relics of Lord Buddha, and its large wooden praying hall and bell tower. Wat Muang Kao Saan Tum has a number of large brown stones which, when tapped, variation in various tones. This temple in located around 35 kilometers (22 miles) northwest of Khao Saming Town, which along with Bo Rai has been developed as a centre for the region famed gem mining industry. The latter was where the World famous ‘Tap Tim Siam’ or King Ruby was excavated, and there is an interesting early morning gem market here.

On Koh Chang island
The island in particularly noted for its beautiful long white sandy beachesWhite Beach view Koh Chang, most of which are along the west coast. These are relatively deserted, and strolling along the shore can make you feel as though you are the only person on the island.

There are a number of delightful waterfalls on the island, in particular Than Mayom waterfall located 1 kilometer (0.5 miles) from the boat pier and National Park Office. There is a footpath which follows the falls Klong Plu waterfall in located 3 kilometers (2 miles) from Ao Klong Prao.

The two most popular and picturesque beaches on the island are White Sand beach and Sai Khao beach. The latter, on the northwest coast, in the longest beach on the island and in bordered by coconut groves and forest. Heading south is the steep Klong Phrao beach. It is possible to swim here but care must be taken regarding the undertows during the rougher sea conditions. It is recommended to be extra careful with children or older persons.

Another popular seaside destination is Ao Sapparot or Pineapple Bay on the northeast coast. Daily excursions are available in the mainland towns from the majority of the hotels. On the island excursions are arranged thought the resorts. Daily excursions are fairly limited; on the mainland they involve the temples and gem markets whilst on the island they are to the waterfalls and island hopping snorkeling and swimming with dolphins trips.

* IMPORTANT *
The southern island of Koh Rang has a bird nest concession; landing on any of the Rang islands should never be attempted. The island Koh Rang is guarded with armed guards who are not scared to shot first before asking questions.

There are no facilities for renting cars on the island, however there are motorbike and mountain bike available for rent.
