Koh Chang island accommodations

Most of the bungalows operations are simple bamboo affairs, comprising just a dozen huts and a small restaurant each. Though they nearly all have their own electricity generator, it’s a good idea to bring your own torch, candles or paraffin lamp as many bungalows managers bow to customer’s preference to stick to candles and paraffin lamps.

Nearly all bungalows on Koh Chang close down from June through October when the island is subject to very heavy rain; many bungalow staff relocates to the mainland for this period, it is recommended that you phone ahead if you want to stay there.

Accommodation is scattered along the coast with resorts ranging from the very basic to luxurious. It is possible to pitch tents on the island with permission from the Thai Royal Forestry Department. The Thai Royal Forestry Department amount of tent permits is limited, so please contact the Thai National Parks Division of the Royal Forestry Department in Bangkok. It is also wise to check your tent equipment in Bangkok, as tent equipment is in Bangkok more available and surely less expensive.

If you came with bus and decide to stay a day or more in Trat. Amenities for tourists in Trat town remain fairly basic, but there is a range of hotels to choose from serving as either stopping off points en route to the islands or as a base whilst visiting the local attractions.

Koh Chang Island has ATM machines from all major Thai banks and it is safe to say that all foreign ATM or Credit cards work with the ATM on the Island. Foreign currency exchange, SCB bank has a dedicated “mobile” Currency exchange and there are some other Thai banks on the Island who do foreign currency exchange.
